Listeners hate your music!

I've asked quite a few people that have nothing to do with music how they feel about what Detroit artists are putting out there, and most of'em say that they hate rap, and the rap songs that Detroiters are putting out.

So that leads me to ask you this: straight up & down, what are you doing to improve what you do? What are you doing to step your game up? How are you gaining a fanbase?

Right now from my experiences, I think the best way to promote your self is on the internet. As of right now i just won a contest on Famecast.com in the Hip Hop Stage out of 843 Entries with my video & i've gotten alot of exposure from that and i'm also going to be featured in SPIN magazine in the JAN. 2009 issue. My advice is to go to www.alexa.com before you sign your self up to any music site to make sure it's legit because you can actually see the traffic from each site on that page. Currently I have over 15+ music pages on the internet because I feel it's the best to get as much listeners as you can and maybe the right person will discover you & your shot can come. Also promote on MYSPACE, i have 18,000 friends on my music page and im always promoting 24/7 just to get that extra buzz.

So many artists, unsigned artists, are making 10's and 100's of albums but why? I mean it's great to keep making as much music as you can, but why not make ONE solid single and push it as far as you can, and when you feel that's all your gonna do with it, then make another hit. I only have 9 studio songs and i've been pushing 2 of them for over 3 months now (doesn't sound long, but when your trying to do something with them everyday it is). My song "Get It On The Floo" has been played in the clubs in DownTown Pontiac and also mixed by dj's of the channel 95.5 bomb squad and played on WYLD 955 club nights. DON'T make songs to just SIT ON THEM. That's what a lot of artists are doing, is making cd's, JUST TO MAKE THEM. Make songs/tracks until you get your chance to SHINE and you get recoginzed. I'm not trying to bring anybody down and I'm not critisizing on anyones music career or your goals, im just giving my advice and my opinions. Also, don't make music about something that has nothing to do with you, it's good to be entertaining and make them song's but make sure you keep it REAL because at the end of the day you don't wanna sound like everyone else !!

AND FOR THE THE ENTIRE YEAR OF 2008 I MADE IT A FOCUS TO BUILD RELATIONSHIPS WITH DETROIT DJ'S...CONSTRUCTING ONE OF THE MOST CONTROVERSIALS DOCUMENTARIES EVER MADE!!!!!!

I'VE TAKING CRITICISM GOOD AND BAD AND FOUND WAYS TO USE THEM ALL TOWARD MY ADVANTAGE SO MY MUSIC AND IMAGE CAN BE TREATED AS A PRODUCT THAT CAN BE SOLD INTERNATIONALLY!
